WHY YOU SHOULD USE GRAMABLACK #Calatorao Stone

The Calatorao Stone is a marble limestone dated back to the Jurassic period (more than 170 million years ago) quarried in the Dehesa Boyal del Romeral, located at the village of Calatorao and it is sourced from our own quarries in the heart of Aragón (Spain).

It has been used as an ornamental stone since the Roman times, although the first vestiges of worked stone are from the Arabic period, and its expansion came with the economic and cultural Renaissance development, proliferating its use in rich paving floors, in palatial house facades and the interior decoration of churches, as well as in the carving of impressive baroque sculptural groups such as the Daroca Collegiate Canopy (1675) or the El Salvador Cathedral Canopy in Zaragoza (1739).

Today we can see its historical vestiges in monuments, streets and squares throughout Spain and Europe, but also its current and modern use in new urban spaces and luxurious designs and showrooms. Its excellent crystallisation grade and its singular colour tones make it a unique stone both for its aesthetic properties and for its strength and durability, offering many aesthetic possibilities and a large number of advantages for its use:
